A Guide to Encounters

Types of Close Encounters:

Close Encounter of the First Kind (CEI):

Visual sightings of a UFO at moderate to close range. Usually, an observer reports seeing something that resembles an "alien spacecraft". Some of these sightings can be dismissed as weather balloons, aircraft, ball lightning, cloud formations, or even a purposeful hoax.

Close Encounter of the Second Kind (CEII):

Visual sighting of alien craft plus discovery of physical evidence of the craft's interaction with the surrounding environment (ie. scorched groud, radioactivity, mutilated animals etc.).

Close Encounter of the Third Kind (CEIII):

Any encounter where visual contact has been made with the 'aliens' themselves

Close Encounter of the Fourth Kind (CEIV):

An encounter in which the observer was taken aboard the unidentified craft. Generally, this occurs through "abductions" where abductees are taken aboard UFOs, where they are subjected to medical tests, usually against their will.

Close Encounter of the Fifth Kind (CEV):

This kind of encounter is very rare. In it, there is deliberate communication and a possible physical meeting between an 'alien' and a terran. An example is the supposed meetings between an 'alien' and Eduard "Billy" Meier.
